The Route 208 bridge in front of the Shop that crosses the stream into town is NOT closing but will be under construction starting Saturday, March 12th. During construction it will be reduced to a single lane and will always be open for West bound traffic heading into Volant from the bridge. East bound traffic coming into Volant from the opposite direction will be able to access all the shops and parking areas up to the bridge, but will not be able to cross the bridge. The Volant Mills parking and also the Fly Shop parking area will be open throughout the bridge construction.
The construction will NOT affect people that would normally cross the bridge to get into town or the Fly Shop. Anyone that normally comes into Volant or to the Fly Shop from the other end of town won’t be affected, as long as you are leaving town by turning right out of the Fly Shop or the Volant Mills parking lots.
During construction, the bridge can only be crossed if you are coming into Volant. You will not be able to cross the bridge when leaving Volant. If you wanted to leave town by going across the bridge, here is your slight detour. All traffic must turn RIGHT and proceed on Route 208 (Main Street) WEST when leaving the Fly Shop or the Volant Mills parking lots. At the Northwest Bank turn RIGHT onto MERCER STREET. You will go about 0.3 miles and BEAR RIGHT onto CREEK ROAD. You will see signs for Pat’s Camera Shop. Stay on CREEK ROAD for 2 miles to the FIRST stop sign at LEESBURG STATION ROAD. Turn RIGHT onto Leesburg Station Road and go 1.2 miles until you reach Route 19. To go Route 19 NORTH turn LEFT towards MERCER. This will also connect you with Route 80. To go Route 19 SOUTH turn RIGHT. This will also connect you with Route 208 EAST.
