YELLOW CREEK GUIDED TRIPS:
Neshannock Creek Fly Shop offers fully guided trips to Yellow Creek (Bedford County) as well as many other waters throughout Pennsylvania. This year we plan to offer more group outings as well as individual guiding on Yellow Creek. We will run a total of seven different group trips this year in hopes of introducing novice as well as experienced anglers to the various hatches this creek has to offer.
All dates will be planned around various hatches, which we hope to encounter in order to enable guests to enjoy fly fishing at its finest. Yellow Creek in Bedford County is one of the state's prime fly fishing destinations. Given a 4-star rating by Charlie Meck in his book, Trout Streams and Hatches of Pennsylvania, Yellow creek is rated as one of the premier creeks in all of Pennsylvania.
This is a Limestone creek, which is kept well supplied with nutrient-rich water from various Limestone feeder streams, resulting in good fishing and water temperatures throughout the summer.
The creek varies in size and personality depending on where it is fished. In general this creek will range in width from 25 to 45 feet. As you fish the lower sections it will broaden in most areas. The characteristics of the water vary from heavy pocket water to more traditional, calmer limestone water. This will provide anglers with an excellent opportunity to fish various types of water.
Your primary host and guide on the trip will be Mick Cochrane. Mick has over 30 years of experience fishing Yellow Creek. His knowledge of the creek comes from a lifetime of fishing its waters. Mick has become well known by many anglers that fish the water regularly, and his extensive knowledge is sure to be an asset to all anglers who accompany him on these trips. Mick is also one of our guides for both Steelhead and Trout on various waters throughout the region. Seize this opportunity and fish with one of the best guides for both Trout and Steelhead.
